Right Food: Zinda Aahar

“Zinda Aahaar se Shareer Mein Shakti Paida hoti Hai‘’

Right Food Produces Energy

“Bhojan chhoti ghatna nahi hai’

“Food is not a petty event”

“Anna se hi brahma ki yatra ki jaa sakti hai “

The journey to the divine begins with food “

We live on planet Earth and Earth, being a part of the solar system owes its existence to the Sun. All organisms on this planet, right from the ant to man owe their existence to the Sun. Nature has created food perfect for each organism and each organism consumes its own food, except for man. We have absolutely no idea about what food is perfect for the human body. Man is indeterminate. There are several diets that we try and each could have its advantages but have we ever wondered what could be the perfect design for the human body according to the Universal Law?

The two wheeler, four wheeler, airplane and space craft, all run on a specific fuel. We never make a mistake in fuelling our vehicle with the appropriate fuel, but our body….? A vehicle worth a few lakhs has more value than ourselves. To top it, we want our bodies to work like a space craft when the fuel we put into it is that of a two wheeler’s !We dream big but have absolutely no idea how the dreams could be realised for only the person who awakens the powers of his brain can achieve real heights and the journey to awaken the powers of the brain starts with Right Food. And right food, not according to his caste or sect or traditions but according to the Universal Laws.

We have no idea as to what is hunger, what to eat, how much to eat, when to eat and when not to eat, how much water to drink and when to drink and that is the reason we become weaker by the day. Worse is still the condition of the younger generation who take in junk through the mouth, the eyes, the nose, the touch and the ears for “ Aahaar” is not just the food that we take in through our mouth but whatever we take in through all  the five sense organs.

A grain of wheat when planted gives birth to more grains of wheat. Similarly, we are all factories that produce a consciousness. The ultimate transformation of food in the body is sex energy. The quality of the product depends totally on the quality of the raw material that is used, the raw material being food.

So, what should be the best raw material? How will we understand food?

“Bhojan Kaisa Hona Chahiye?”

When a child is born, the first thing he does is to take his mother’s milk. ”Bhojan maa ke doodh jaisa hona chahiye”

“Food must be like mother’s milk”.Humans are mammals endowed with an extra sense organ and that is his Saliva. Saliva is considered the sixth sense organ and only this sense organ is fully active at the time of birth and it is with the saliva that the mother becomes one with the child. The mother’s milk has 6 rasaas to nourish and develop all the 6 sense organs and these six rasaas or tastes, namely, the sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and spicy together make the food complete when taken in the right proportions. The first three are connected to the lunar plexus, are the alkaline rasas and the body needs around 80 percent of the alkaline rasas. The last three are the acidic rasas that are connected to the solar plexus hence their requirement is about 20 percent. Also, every season has one predominant rasa. These doshas or humors are subtle energies that govern the functions of the body, mind and consciousness.Related to the 3 seasons, there are 3 layers of the body and each layer ,kaph, pitta and Vaayu, is strengthened in each season if the right rasa is consumed judiciously according to one’s unique prakriti or nature.Imbalanced doshas lead to diseases. Paramaalayji’s experience and his deep understanding of sutras and the various dimensions of the Universal Laws that govern food are indeed a guiding light.

Another aspect of mother’s milk is that it is devoid of Vaasanaa or lust, it is purely Saatvik. This union, the one without any vaasanaa is the purest union. We are the only exquisite flower with extraordinary possibilities. We are made for the essence, that is the Sattva, the seed, not the root. In the seed alone is hidden the fire of gyaan or wisdom which is the ultimate goal of life.It is in our hands whether we want to develop lust or the gyaan in the child. This takes us to another dimension of food. Categorisation of food is also done in the way different qualities of food, namely Saatvik, Rajasik and Tamasik, determine the direction that life would take.Food that has all three qualities balanced in the right proportions is most appropriate for the body. The mistake occurs when we mix up all the three disproportionately. This confuses the body.

Now an analogy:

A company goes through extensive research before launching a new car in the market. The engineer that designs the car also designs its fuel and creates a condusive atmosphere for it before it is launched in the market. Six lane highways are constructed . Similarly, the existence has given the mother the appropriate design for the creation of the perfect atmosphere for developing the child. So this engineer, the mother alone is capable of introducing the bhaav, the feelings of love in the food. This is the science behind the mother cooking for her child. We are so influenced by science and advancement in technology that our focus never shifts from the physical body to the subtle and sublime. The limitations of science is quite evident in the fact that we are not yet capable of manufacturing even a single drop of blood.

“You are what you eat”

It took Paramaalayji years of research and experimenting to come out with a format that matches the Universal Law.

He has combined the wisdom of the ages with modern science to give to us a clear understanding about the body, it’s organs  and the food that makes each element that we are composed of, namely, the Earth, water, fire, air and space, powerful. The difference between the three qualities of food, namely saatvik, rajasik and tamasik food and what role each plays in determining the direction that our life would take, has been addressed in detail. What  are the right timings for breakfast, lunch, what is the requirement of the five elements in the body.

“Ek samay Anna ka aahaar, Ek samay phal ka aahaar, ek samay Jal ka aahaar, niraahar aur upwaas”

The suns rays fall directly on earth at noon and that is the time when the digestive juices in the stomach or the Jatharagni ( the fire of the belly) is at its peak. After about eighty minutes of sun rise, when the sun’s rays are tilted, it is then that an alkaline breakfast is ideal for the body. Paramaalayji has designed an alkaline breakfast comprising of around 15 items which is served free each morning during the 10 day shivir to the thousands of attendees. The reason being that man has an overload of information but has never implemented it in life because of three reasons. One is that the information is not in proper sequence, the second being a lack of goal in life and the third, sheer laziness. A ten day experience and its results along with a deep understanding of the science behind food inspires most to continue with it. After three hours of lunch when the stomach has digested the food, is time to drink water. So, the third meal consists of water and for the rest of the day, the stomach must remain Niraahaar or without food so that the energy can be diverted towards the brain. “Upwaas” means to be seated within oneself or to reside in one’s soul or the higher level of our existence. This is the perfect design for the one who seeks to master oneself.

“Jaisa hoga Anna, waisa hoga mann”

A healthy mind cannot exist in an unhealthy body and a healthy body cannot exist with an unhealthy mind.

The mooladhar or the root chakra also called the Annamaya Kosha comprises of the food that makes our physical body.Hence the great importance of food.

Once the foundation is laid well at the root chakra, one can advance to the next chakra or kosha which is the Swadhishthan or the Pranmaya Kosha and so on to the ultimate level of existence.

We cannot build a house from the first storey upwards. The foundation has to be laid and then we proceed step by step to the next level. Similarly, we must work sequentially from the mooladhaar to the Sahastraar Paramaalayji refers to as the journey from food to the divine or “Anna se brahma ki yatra”

Why are the Homo sapiens superior to all other species that exist on our planet ? The vertical spine and the brain that is biologically fully evolved make him so. In the history of the evolution of man, a great turning point was reached when he switched to cooking meat that he used to consume raw before the discovery of fire. The size of the human brain grew to the size it is today from the size of an orange that it was earlier. The energy consumed earlier to digest raw meat was now in spare and it went to the brain to increase its size hence its capabilities. A change as small as cooking the food has left a mark in the history of the evolution of mankind.

The right combination of food, for example, eating rice and pulses separately further reduce the load on the system leaving energy in surplus for the brain. The right time to eat each meal, the right way to cook, the right fat and it’s quantity each has been defined by Paramaalayji to the minutest detail but he encourages everyone to develop this understanding. Not only this, about a thousand recipes have been guided by him to make our journey to the divine as smooth and simple as possible.

Right food produces swasthya or health and well being in the body. Health is not merely the absence of disease. Swasthya means swayam mein Stith,to be seated within oneself. Swasthya awakens Saahas, courage in the body which in turn leads to awakening of Sankalp, Will. Will generates vivek or prudence which leads to Ananda or bliss and bliss takes us to gyaan, the realisation of the self
